Org-Wide AI-Enabled Product Workflows
Independently piloted, validated, and rolled out AI tools across the product organization for discovery, PRD authoring, and early design. No budget, no headcount, no formal mandate - led entirely outside formal responsibility.
+20% PM execution efficiency
$350 Per seat per year
Context
PRDs at Skillz were going through multiple rework cycles, timelines were slipping, and PMs were spending disproportionate time on low-leverage work. Leadership discussed AI adoption in principle but there was no concrete plan or owner. This was outside my formal responsibility.
Approach
- Independently evaluated AI tools for product discovery, PRD authoring, and early design workflows.
- Measured time savings against existing processes and documented where human judgment remained essential.
- As self-appointed admin, configured shared company and product context within the tool and embedded standard PRD templates to ensure baseline quality.
- Personally reviewed early AI-generated PRDs to validate output quality before broader rollout.
- Proposed an org-wide rollout positioning the tool as a low-risk, low-cost (~$350/seat/year) reversible productivity enhancer - not a replacement for product thinking.
- Supported early adopters hands-on to ensure sustainable workflow adoption.
Result
- AI-enabled workflows adopted across discovery, PRDs, and early design.
- 20%+ improvement in PM execution efficiency with no additional headcount.
- Delivery predictability improved. PMs reallocated time to customer problems and strategic decisions.
What I learned
Ownership outside your formal scope only works if you absorb the risk personally first. I onboarded as admin, reviewed early outputs, and supported adopters one-on-one before pitching the rollout. That is what made the proposal credible.
