Platform Roadmap Separation - Mission 20X
Argued for separating the Platform and Revenue roadmaps so platform investments stopped being deprioritized for short-term revenue gains. Realigned resource allocation company-wide by anchoring every conversation to a shared 'Mission 20X' goal.
Context
When I transitioned from the Growth Charter to lead the Platform Charter at Games24x7, I identified a risk: platform and revenue roadmaps were treated as the same, which consistently led to platform investments being deprioritized in favor of short-term revenue gains. Separating the roadmaps required convincing Product, Business, and Tech, then realigning resource allocation company-wide.
Approach
- Kept all negotiations anchored to the end goal: Mission 20X - enabling 20 million simultaneous users in the app within one year.
- Made the business case for platform investment as a prerequisite for revenue scalability, not a trade-off against it.
- Secured separate roadmaps for Platform and Revenue, with dedicated resource allocation for each.
Result
- Separate platform roadmap established with dedicated resources.
- Prevented systematic deprioritization of platform initiatives.
- Aligned the organization around long-term platform scalability as a strategic imperative.
What I learned
The fastest way to win stakeholder alignment is not to argue your charter. It is to translate every discussion into the language of a goal everyone already cares about.
